Administrators in each forest can add objects from one forest to access control lists (ACLs) on shared resources in the other forest. You can use the ACL editor to add or remove objects residing in one forest to ACLs on resources in another forest. Requirements To create a forest trust, you must have Enterprise Admin privileges in both forests. Each trust must be assigned a password that is known to the administrators of both forests in the relationship. Before creating a forest trust, you need to verify that you have the correct DNS infrastructure in place and that the appropriate functional level for the Active Directory forest has been established. Before attempting to implement Group Policy, you must be familiar with concepts that affect Group Policy operations. This lesson defines Group Policy, explains how GPOs work, and provides an overview of the settings in a GPO. It also shows you how Group Policy affects startup and logging on, how it is applied, and how security groups are used to filter Group Policy.

We may define the lock upon the method in the bean implementation class, on the class itself, or some combination of the two (with method-level overriding the class definition). Requests upon a singleton bean employing CMC are not designed to block indefinitely until a lock becomes available. We may also specify sensible timeouts:

The security options section provides a way to modify registry settings to improve secu rity. The default settings in this section can be used to enforce many aspects of your orga nization s written security policy, including logons, passwords, network communication, object access, and user rights. The security options section can also be customized by adding entries to the security template master file using a text editor. Any security issue that can be addressed by making a registry entry can be added to the security template. Many security policy statements can be fulfilled by adding entries here.

Group policies are collections of user and computer configuration settings that specify how programs, network resources, and the operating system work for users and com puters in an organization. Group Policy can be set up for computers, sites, domains, and OUs. For example, using group policies, you can determine the programs that are available to users, the programs that appear on the user s desktop, and Start menu options. Although the name Group Policy suggests that you might set policies for glo bal, domain local, or global groups, this is not the case. Instead, think of Group Policy as groupings of policy settings that are linked to computers, sites, domains, and OUs.

Apply a baseline template to all servers, and use incremental templates to adjust secu rity for specific server roles. Remember that:

Off the Record As stated in this section, group policies apply to computer and user accounts. A common misconception is that group policies can be applied to groups. Although group policies do not apply to groups, group membership can affect the application of Group Policy. For example, if a user or computer account belongs to a group that is specifically denied the ability to apply Group Policy, that account will not receive the Group Policy. This concept is known as filtering GPO scope with security groups, and is discussed in Lesson 3.

If changes are necessary for some server role or are dictated by security policy for some server role but will weaken security, make them in the incremental tem plates and not in the baseline template. If changes are dictated or necessary for some server role but strengthen overall security, consider making them in the baseline template. However, if they must then be relaxed for most server roles, they probably do not belong in the baseline template.
